Diem Van Groth on Film Set

About

From a teenage mailroom clerk to an international business strategist and emerging filmmaker, Diem Van Groth has built a career defined by vision, tenacity, and global reach.

At 16 he worked the mailroom of Midwest Federal Bank; by 17 he was interning in Dain Bosworth’s (now RBC) Corporate Finance Department, contributing to +$100M IPO and private-placement deals—a start that fueled his drive to connect ideas, capital, and people.

Over three decades he has advised C-suite leaders and governments across finance, consumer products, technology, urban planning, and international development—negotiating multi-jurisdictional contracts and generating hundreds of millions in new revenue. He led federal empowerment-zone applications, shaped transformative infrastructure projects worldwide, and built social networks reaching hundreds of millions.

As founder of Diem Van Groth Productions, he brings that strategic vision to film. His credits include the documentary 612: Darkness in the Land of Nice, Trace The Line, the landmark feature Conscience of the Congress: The Untold Story of the Congressional Black Caucus—produced with Donna Brown Guillaume, David M. Massey, Sam Pollard, and Charles Floyd Johnson—and the docuseries Heart Beats, which reveals how a Halloween blackout, a fishing-lure company, and a rollerskating rink combined to launch the multi-trillion-dollar global medical-device industry—an origin story rooted in Minnesota.

Whether advising governments, planning cities, or producing films, Diem believes strategic vision and authentic storytelling can create global impact. Splitting time between coasts, he continues to unite business, technology, community development, culture, and film—proof that a career beginning in a bank mailroom can grow to influence the world stage.
